Frequently Asked Questions | EP Nutrition

1. What’s the difference between a dietitian and a nutritionist?

A Registered Dietitian (RD) is a regulated healthcare professional who has completed accredited university training and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Dietitians provide evidence-based, personalised advice and can work with both healthy individuals and those with medical conditions.
The term nutritionist is not protected in the UK, which means anyone can use it regardless of qualifications.

2. Do I need a referral to book an appointment?

No referral is needed , you can book directly with me. If your GP or healthcare provider has suggested you see a dietitian, you’re encouraged to share any relevant notes or test results before your session.

3.How are appointments conducted?

Consultations are available online via secure video link, allowing you to join from anywhere in the UK. In-person appointments are also available at my clinic in Pimlico, London.

4. What happens in the first consultation?

Your initial session (60 minutes) is a detailed, one-to-one discussion where we explore your health goals, medical history, lifestyle, and nutrition in depth. Together, we’ll identify your desired outcomes and set realistic, achievable goals to work towards.

You will also receive written literature and evidence-based resources to support you after the session, helping you put your plan into practice confidently. If any further testing or medical review is needed, this will be discussed during your appointment.

5.How many sessions will I need?

This depends on your goals and health needs. Some clients benefit from one or two sessions, while others choose ongoing support through one of the packages available, to help maintain motivation and accountability over time.

6. How do I pay for my session?

Payment is made securely online at the time of booking. You’ll receive confirmation and a receipt by email.

7. What if I need to cancel and reschedule?

I understand that plans can change. Please provide at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

Any cancellations made within 48 hours of your appointment will be charged at the full session price.

That said, I also recognise that many of our clients manage complex health conditions. If you experience a medical emergency or have a valid reason for late cancellation, please contact us as soon as possible , I will always do my best to accommodate your situation with understanding and flexibility.

9. Can you provide meal plans or recipes?

Depending on your goals and needs, you may receive personalised meal ideas, recipe suggestions, or sample meal structures to help guide your choices. These are always tailored to your preferences, culture, and lifestyle to ensure they are practical and sustainable.

However, my approach is not centred around providing detailed written meal plans. Instead, we focus on building the knowledge and confidence you need to make flexible, informed decisions that fit naturally into your daily life.

8. Are your services suitable for men too?

Absolutely. While many of my specialist areas focus on women's health, I work with people of all genders. I particularly support men with fertility nutrition, IBS, metabolic health, weight management and general healthy eating.

10. Where can I find your prices?

All current prices are listed on the Dietetic Services page. This includes details of consultation options, package offers, and available workshops. If you’re unsure which service is most suitable for you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch , I will be happy to guide you.

11. Do I need to prepare anything for my initial assessment?

Yes. Prior to your appointment, I will send you a pre-assessment form to complete, which helps us understand your background, health goals, and any relevant medical information.

You will also receive our terms and conditions of practice, which outline important information about how we work, including confidentiality, cancellations, and payments. Please ensure both documents are completed and returned before your consultation, as missing information may delay your assessment.

12. Do you accept Health insurance?

Yes , EP Nutrition is registered with several major UK health insurance providers, meaning you may be able to use your existing policy to cover the cost of your consultations at no upfront cost to you.

We currently accept the following insurers:

  • Aviva

  • Vitality

  • AXA Health

  • WPA

  • Bupa

If you hold a policy with one of these providers, please contact your insurer before booking to confirm your cover and obtain an authorisation number. Once you have this, get in touch with us and we'll take care of the rest.

If your insurer is not listed above, we can still provide you with a detailed receipt following your consultation, which you can submit to your provider for potential reimbursement ,though we'd recommend checking your policy terms in advance.
